Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

I hope nobody here is daring to contradict the highly respected and balanced reporting of the BBC?

I couldn't agree more. I'm a strong supporter of organic agriculture, but I believe these spurious claim of consumer health benefits are actively counter-productive. We need to move the whole debate away from individual health effects, as it's a clear loser for the organic movement.

This is what happens when the PR and advertising people get too much institutional power. Once again, the Soil Association is making us all look like a bunch of idiots.<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('27722','Dunc'); return false;">Reply</a> | <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('27722','Dunc','I couldn\'t agree more.
The Ministry of Truth yet again brings important news to our attention. I have, for years, been arguing in favour of organic agriculture for reasons other than spurious health claims. There are a huge number of reasons to support agriculture less dependant upon the whims of corporate excess without lying to the public such as:

Independence from the agro-industry

improved energy efficiency

reduced erosion rates

improved habitats

lower leachate run-off

high levels of carbon-capture

The Soil Association, once the proud keeper of science-based facts concerning organic agriculture and, incidentally, responsible for the official certification of organic farms and their produce in the UK, is now, according to Times online at: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article549955.ece, in the hands of an Anthroposophist in the shape of its Director, Patrick Holden.

At this rate, all our institutions will be run by people for whom power is more important than truth. Why is the Green movement so reluctant to be outspoken on these issues? Environmentalists everywhere should stick to the science or we'll all be controlled by religious nuts come the inevitable collapse of unsustainable consumerism.

Best wishes
